Life is Boring
punk mantra

LIFE IS BORING My spirit soared beyond and back Emotional turmoil, angry rants The stage, the center of the world Electric shock and microphones Smacking lips with sweat and spit. She said, “It’s where I belong,” With misfit toys, the boys, the girls, Apartment’s a wreck Up ‘til dawn Humming a tune, a punk rock song. They’re banging the ceiling, “Go to bed!” Can’t get the words out of my head Speaking true, it’s no lie Life is boring, then you die. I lived that way for several years Black t-shirts and leather slacks A costume that never gets old A badge of honor to never change. Intoxicated on Aqua Net Liner thick around the eyes Hair a mess, a wet kiss The heel of my boot upon your chest. I survived on minimum wage And waiting tables at some dive The bartender called me “Babe” No ID needed, I’m a VIP. It’s hard to believe those were the days Of self expression running wild Creativity pumped boiling hot The punk aesthetic really rocked. They’re banging the ceiling, “Go to bed!” Can’t get the words out of my head Speaking true, it’s no lie Life is boring then you die. Amen. © 2026 Stephanie M. Vargo

Hahah. Love this line… “Intoxicated on Aqua Net!” Flashbacks to the 80’s!
I can see you as a punk rocker, Stephanie!
