Gog and Magog
war in the middle east

Gog and Magog There is war in the Middle East I sit in my living room Physically untouched by the carnage Emotionally paralyzed by the destruction. I am a spectator connected by electronic media Neurons pulsing with shades of Armageddon Distant, I am one small being, powerless To override the biblical upheaval. A surfeit of greed rewrites the world Emanating from the hearts of maniacal monsters Intoxicated by annihilation, enamored by self-will. The bliss of cruelty drives them on. The gods are deaf Shaking their heads stunned at the pride Of such puny beasts Comfortable in their mansions. It is too late to pray, Our voices have been swallowed by surrender To Gog and Magog Anesthetized by the belief that good will prevail. The candles in my window signify my solidarity With the crumbling spirit of the people The old battle cries of my grandfathers grace my lips This is a call to arms, a fight for a way of life. ©2026 Stephanie M.
