Belief and expectation Shape the path of desire Our initial perceptions Trace the inclination of need Drawing us in. We are pulled into experience As if following a scent Captivated and enticed Led by our emotions Before the birth of thought. The force of habit overwhelms Tropism takes hold In a trance We march charmed Assuming fulfillment. We do not question We hold fast to our conviction Anticipating what we have foreseen Embracing what is already given. There is no reality Separate from our longing, We create qualities and traits To guarantee satisfaction. We conjure what we imagine Engaged in a spell of making We lust for completion Designing our dreams. © 2026 Stephanie M. Vargo
